Artist Interview: Jaymee Miller | Electronic Music Producer

Updated: Apr 8

Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of? I’ve been part of Nature One festival since last year. It is a very special project for me, and I am honored to be part of such a great festival. We are already planning this years version. Last year I produced the entire opening ceremony for the whole festival, and created DJ Intros for DJs such as: Tchami, Nervo, Paul Van Dyk and many more. What's the biggest misconception about music production? That you need to know music theory and you have to be a trained musician to be a great producer. Even though I studied music, I have many friends who didn't go to any musical school and are amazing producers. Just create what you love, and be original. How would you describe your style of trance? My style feels like when you combine melodic house tracks with signature trance melodies. Something new and fresh. What type of music do you usually produce? Usually trance, progressive house, melodic house.

Analog or digital and why? I love analog, but at the same time it can have a lot of negative impact if you use it incorrectly. But since I bought my first analog, I can't go back. :D What do you like most about trance music production? I would say that trance is one of the best kinds of music to transfer your emotions into your songs. I find it easy to share my thoughts and my struggles with the trance community through trance music. How long have you been making music? This year it will be 12 years since I have opened my first session in Ableton. It feels like yesterday.

What's your typical work process? From my early begging, I have struggled to make music, to finish it. I’ve found a cheat code that works for me. I have to make at least one song a week, to train myself and my brain that creating even from nothing is something that I have to do. It doesn’t have to be done in one week, but I promised myself to at least start an idea that can be evolved into the complete track. Tell us about your studio setup. I use Focals Trio 6 as my main studio monitors, together with UAD Apollo Interface. I have some analog compressors from WARM AUDIO and I am using Apple Macbook Pro.

Can you share one music production tip? Instead of 5 layers to create a sound, try to work on just one and make it sound good. Do not overdo things. What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you? There are multiple artists that were and still are a big influence in my career, and each individual one is from a different style of music. I love Coldplay, John Mayer, Dubvision, Deadmau5, Metrik and many more.

Jaymee is 26 years old music producer from Slovakia. He started pruducing music when he was 17 years old.

His tracks are very melodic and emotional. Jaymee also makes very powerful trance and progressive records that are yet to come!

Jaymee was always involved with music since he was young. When he was 8 years old, he started playing on piano in the church. Later on he decided to switch to guitar and drums and singing.

Few years later Jaymee decided to study on Conservatory J.L. Bell in Slovakia.

During school, Jaymee already had gigs at local bars and clubs. He decided to not go to the university, but to pursue his dreams.

After years of producing for himself, in 2021 he finally decided to start releasing songs, and share it with the audience.
